Our final French-American space cooperation feature centers on the James #Webb Space Telescope, an international partnership between NASA and ESA, with the support of the CNES. As you've probably seen, the #Webb Telescope allows us to see deep into the stars and to explore, just like Le Petit Prince.
President Macron said, “This photo not only shows us the furthest distance ever observed, but also the oldest: it is a journey back in time to 13 billion years ago. We are seeing the dawn of our universe! France is very proud to have contributed to the success of the James Webb telescope.”

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has produced the deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe to date. Known as Webb’s First Deep Field, this image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 is overflowing with detail. Thousands of galaxies – including the faintest objects ever observed in the infrared – have appeared in Webb’s view for the first time. This slice of the vast universe is approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground. [Click to enlarge]
